This can provide home telephone service over your home Internet connection, without paying for a telephone service.

Our family has used these in each of our homes since 2014, and they have worked well. While cell phones are far more convenient, a (free) house phone has come in handy on occasion.

Plug one end into your high speed Internet router and other end into any regular cordless phone (or buy one), link to a free Google Voice account, and you will be able to make calls within the US and Canada for free, receive calls, and have text messaging and voice mail with transcribing.

Since this is an Internet-based telephone service, 911 emergency service will not work. Use your mobile phone for emergency calls, or E911 can be added for about $20 for a year. E911 immediately sends your home address to emergency responders, so they can respond quicker than giving your address while a stressful emergency situation is happening.
