Details: | Free 2GB Cloud Storage from Google for Free: (expired)
In celebration of Safer Internet Day, Google is offering most its users an additional 2GB of Google Cloud Storage for free.
The process takes anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes.
The free 2GB of additional cloud storage may expire today.
To get the free 2 GB added to your Google account:
- Click here and sign in to your (or create a new) Google account.
We recommend using your Gmail account (@gmail.com address) to log in, but you can use whatever email address you prefer to use.
- Once logged in, you will be asked to confirm or enter a few security questions:
- Check your recovery phone and email address, which Google will use to reach you whenever you forget your login password.
Click "done".
- Check your recent Google logins.
If it looks like those logins were you, click "looks good".
If someone else appears to be logging in to your Google account, click "something looks wrong".
- Check which devices are being used with your Google account.
For example, if you use your home Windows PC, your iPhone, and your work Mac, you will see each of those devices.
If those appear okay, press "looks good".
- Check your account permissions.
These are services that tie in to your Google account (including Google Voice, YouTube, your iOS devices, etc.).
You can edit the permissions of each of these services if you want, but most people will just press "done" to continue.
- Check your app passwords, if you have any.
These are one-time-use passwords that you may have generated to log in to your Google account, for some third-party apps/devices such as Microsoft Outlook and your OBi Voice-Over-IP Google Voice service.
Press "done" if it looks right.
- Set or confirm 2-Step Verification.
If you rely on your Google account for email, storage, or anything important, we strongly recommend setting up 2-Step Verification.
It is the only way to truly protect your account from hackers, because even if a hacker would guess (or steal) your password, they will likely not be able to log in and steal your personal information.
Clicking the "2-Step Verification" link will open a new window.
Once you sync the verification with your phone number or Google Authenticator mobile app, return to the page and press "done".
- You should see a message saying "nicely done, you're all set".
And, "to help celebrate Safer Internet Day 2016, we added 2 GB of free Drive storage to your Google account because you completed the Security Checkup".
Google offers anywhere from 1GB to 15GB for anyone for free.
So with this deal, you can get as much as 17GB of Google Drive storage for free.
If you already subscribe to Google Drive (for example, 100GB for $2/mo), this should give you an additional 2GB for free.
However beware that some accounts, for whatever reason, may not be eligible for the free 2GB.
This should work with most personal accounts, however it may not apply to someone who already received free 2GB last year or other free promotions. |
