Details: | Seagate 2TB Hard Drive for $60 Seagate (ST2000DM001) 2TB Hard Drive for $72, and code ESCETGJ23 applies $12 off in the cart. According to the Newegg reviews, many of these Seagate 2TB hard drives have problems with reliability. As one reviewer writes, many of the Seagate 2TB drives care made in completely different ways, while keeping the same model number. Some drives are just not reliable, and we had one fail last year. If you are looking for another 2TB drive, check out a Hitachi 2TB 7200rpm Hard Drive for $65. If you have a server and want RAID, check out the cheap 3Ware/AMCC 9650SE RAID Cards available through Ebay for around $20. They use special cables called "Mini-SATA to 4 SATA Cables". They are old cards, only support hard drives up to 2TB each, and not compatible with SSDs (because they lack "TRIM" for keeping SSDs defragmented), but are great quality for reliable RAID. We had two in servers for the last 7 and 9 years, and about to set up a third. |
