Details: | Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service Unit $63 (expired: price raised to $80) Ooma Telo voice-over-IP device is on sale for $63 today. Normally about $75 to $80. No phone service required. It includes a free calling within the US and Canada, voicemail, caller-ID, call-waiting, and 911. A land-line voice-over-IP service works over broadband Internet, and will be better quality than using a cell phone in a home. Works with cordless home phones, like this 2-handset phone for $35. Ooma has a lot of positive reviews, but be sure to read the reviews before buying, since some people have complained about their customer support and reliability. As an alternative, check out the Obihai OBi200 and OBi202 boxes. Unlike Ooma, you can pick your voice-over-IP service (paid or free). We have the 2-line OBi202 model linked to two separate Google Voice accounts, which provides free voicemail, calling, and integration with our cell phones. Note that 911 emergency calling does not work with free Google Voice service, so we added Anveo E911 for $15/yr to our OBi202 through the Obihai control panel. It works on both our Google Voice phones. The OBi202 may be on sale for $50 around Black Friday, if you can wait about 5-6 weeks. |
