Details:32" LCD flatpanel HDTV $900 in-store
(expired)

(repost)

This deal requires you to be a Costco club member ($45 for a year). Costco mailed a few coupons to their members recently, one coupon included was a $100 off Proview RX-326 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV coupon, making it cost $900 in-store. Coupon is valid July 5 through July 10. To get this deal you will need the original coupon (not a jpg image of the coupon found on this site). If you did not receive a coupon in the mail, visit the customer service counter in-store and request the summer coupon booklet.

This is an excellent deal on a 32" LCD HDTV. The specs of the RX-326 screen look pretty good, with 1366x768 resolution, 800:1 Contrast Ratio, and 16ms Response Time. Another page shows different specs, saying it has a 8ms response time, but 16ms sounds more accurate.

The Proview specs are not as good as the Syntax Olevia 32" LCD HDTV that has been posted here a few times for around $1100, but the Proview's specs are still pretty good, especially at the $900 price. In comparison, the Syntax has 1200:1 Contrast Ratio and and 8ms Response Time, which makes it the best specs on a 32" LCD HDTV in its price range.

This deal was available online earlier this week, but has been pulled off their website. You can still see Google's cache of the page. Most stores still have some inventory left, but they are going fast.

My local Costco store had 30 on Wednesday, and 10 on Thursday. I picked up a coupon book from the customer service counter, loaded the HDTV on the cart, and purchased it for $900 after coupon. The model is RX-326, it has one component video input, one VGA input, and one HDMI input. Because there's only 3 quality inputs, you are limited to switching between 3 devices, such as a HD Converter Box, PC, and a DVD Player. It comes with a stand, and the screen is wall mountable with a (not included) attachment that costs around $100 at most stores. It has a built in tuner (unknown if its an HDTV tuner). It supports 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i HDTV resolutions, has a 170-degree view, standard remote control, and does not support picture-in-picture. Most importantly though, the TV on display in the store looked very nice, and definitely held its own next to a 42" Plasma. Unfortunately I will not have my new purchase installed at home until next Friday, so I probably will not report on how the TV looks until then. I purchased it yesterday because I figured they would sell out before the weekend. While putting one in the cart, another person in the store said he saw the coupon too, and would return later to buy one. While checking out, 3 different people asked me how much the flatpanel LCD cost, and were shocked to hear it was only $900.

Because this HDTV has a VGA input, I wonder how it would look as a gigantic 32" widescreen 1366x768 LCD monitor for a computer.

If the product inventory is gone, Costco does do rain-checks. Costco has a generous return policy, so you can return the HDTV to the store later if you don't like it. If you return it, they will give you store credit if you purchased with a debit card, Amex credit if you purchased with an Amex card, or cash if you purchased with a check or cash.
